Emerald Race Days is one of Emerald’s signature events, drawing visitors from across the Central Highlands and beyond. The Emerald Jockey Club hosts regular race meetings throughout the year — a social highlight for the community and a great day out for visitors.

Emerald race days combine competitive country racing with a genuine social atmosphere. Expect a full card of races, on-course bookmakers, food and drink, fashions on the field, and a relaxed country vibe. Feature race days — including the Emerald 100 and Ladies Day — draw larger crowds and offer more entertainment. The racecourse facilities are well-maintained with covered grandstand, bar, and dining options.

For visitors, race day is one of the best ways to experience Emerald’s social life. The crowd is a genuine cross-section of Central Highlands community — miners, farmers, families, and corporate groups all come together.

Race day is a long day, and it is a day most people would rather not finish behind the wheel. Emerald Inn is at 28–30 Esmond Street, walking distance from the CBD, which means a short taxi or courtesy lift back into town rather than a drive home to Rockhampton or Blackwater at the end of it.

Feature meetings — the Emerald 100 and Ladies Day in particular — fill accommodation in town well ahead of the date, so the useful thing is to book when you commit to going rather than the week before. Corporate groups tend to take several apartments together; a Travellers Group corporate account handles the billing as one invoice. Every apartment has a full kitchen and its own washer-dryer, which is more relevant than it sounds when the fashions-on-the-field outfit needs to survive a second day.
