Emerald Race Days
Emerald Race Days is one of Emerald’s signature events, drawing visitors from across the Central Highlands and beyond. The Emerald Jockey Club hosts regular race meetings throughout the year — a social highlight for the community and a great day out for visitors.
About Emerald Race Days
Emerald race days combine competitive country racing with a genuine social atmosphere. Expect a full card of races, on-course bookmakers, food and drink, fashions on the field, and a relaxed country vibe. Feature race days — including the Emerald 100 and Ladies Day — draw larger crowds and offer more entertainment. The racecourse facilities are well-maintained with covered grandstand, bar, and dining options.
For visitors, race day is one of the best ways to experience Emerald’s social life. The crowd is a genuine cross-section of Central Highlands community — miners, farmers, families, and corporate groups all come together.
Organised by the Emerald Jockey Club, this event has become a fixture on the Central Highlands calendar. The event typically attracts 500–2,000 per meeting, larger for feature races visitors.

Why Attend
Country racing in Queensland is a cultural experience as much as a sporting one. The atmosphere is welcoming, the betting is casual, and the fashion ranges from polished to practical. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon if you’re in Emerald for work or holiday — particularly on feature days when the entertainment extends well into the evening.
Getting There
Emerald is accessible via the Capricorn Highway from both Brisbane (9 hours) and Rockhampton (3 hours). Emerald Airport has daily flights from Brisbane via QantasLink and Alliance Airlines.
