About Blackwater Mine Workers Cup
The Mine Workers Cup is the Bowen Basin mining community’s biggest social event — bringing together mine workers, families, and local businesses for a day of country racing, fashion, food, and entertainment. Corporate marquees, on-course betting, live music, and a genuine party atmosphere make this one of the region’s most anticipated events. Blackwater is a short drive from Emerald, making it easy to attend and return to your Emerald Inn apartment the same evening.

Getting There
Emerald is accessible via the Capricorn Highway from both Brisbane (9 hours) and Rockhampton (3 hours). Emerald Airport has daily flights from Brisbane via QantasLink and Alliance Airlines.

Blackwater is under an hour east on the Capricorn Highway, which makes Emerald a sensible place to sleep rather than driving back to Rockhampton or out to camp after a long day at the Cup. We are at 28–30 Esmond Street, walking distance from the CBD.
All 32 apartments are fully self-contained — full kitchen, own washer-dryer — which is why a lot of our mining guests use us for the whole swing rather than just the event.
