Emerald Art Gallery Exhibitions
Emerald Art Gallery Exhibitions is one of Emerald’s signature events, drawing visitors from across the Central Highlands and beyond. Community visual arts venue with regularly changing exhibitions of local and visiting artists.
About Emerald Art Gallery Exhibitions
The Emerald Art Gallery showcases visual art from local and visiting artists across a range of mediums — painting, sculpture, photography, and mixed media. Exhibitions change regularly, offering fresh perspectives on Central Highlands life, landscape, and culture. Opening nights often include artist talks and community gatherings.
The event typically attracts 100–300 per exhibition visitors.
When & Where
When: Year-round, with exhibitions changing regularly Where: Emerald Art Gallery, Emerald town centre Expected attendance: 100–300 per exhibition
Why Attend
A quieter cultural experience that reveals Emerald’s creative side. The gallery is free to visit and provides an interesting counterpoint to the region’s mining and agricultural identity. Particularly rewarding during winter when the climate encourages indoor cultural exploration.
Getting There
Emerald is accessible via the Capricorn Highway from both Brisbane (9 hours) and Rockhampton (3 hours). Emerald Airport has daily flights from Brisbane via QantasLink and Alliance Airlines.
Emerald Inn — A Quiet Room After the Opening
Exhibition openings are an evening thing, and being able to walk back rather than drive is most of the appeal of staying in town. We are at 28–30 Esmond Street, minutes from the CBD galleries on foot.
Our apartments are quiet, self-contained and set up for a longer stay than one night — full kitchen, own laundry, fast WiFi — which suits exhibiting artists and anyone here for a run of workshops rather than a single evening.
Stay with us: 28–30 Esmond Street, Emerald QLD 4720. Check availability or call (07) 4980 0600. Compare the three apartment types.
More to See Locally
Emerald’s visual arts run well beyond the gallery walls, particularly out on the Gemfields:
- Rubyvale gem shops — where to browse, buy and commission a setting
- Photographing the Central Highlands — where to be at first and last light
- Emerald Botanic Gardens — the quietest half hour in Emerald, before the day warms up
