Long-Stay Rates in Emerald — How Weekly and Monthly Pricing Works

Long-stay rates at Emerald Inn are quoted rather than published, and this page explains why — and what actually determines the number you are given.

Most people arriving at this question have already worked out that thirty nights at a nightly rate is not a sensible way to pay for a placement. What is less obvious is what a long-stay rate depends on, and what you can do to improve the one you are offered.

What changes at seven nights, and at twenty-eight

There are two thresholds that matter.

Seven nights is where weekly rates begin. Below that you are booking nightly, and the booking engine will give you a live price for your dates.

Twenty-eight nights is where monthly rates begin. This is a meaningfully different rate again, not a small step down from weekly, because a month-long booking changes how the apartment is serviced and how the room is held in inventory.

Between and beyond those, it is a conversation. A fixed eight-week block is priced differently to an open-ended placement that might run eight weeks or might run six months, because certainty is worth something to both sides.

Why the rate is not on the website

Three reasons, and none of them is that we are hoping you will pay more.

Timing. Emerald has genuinely scarce weeks — AgGrow in June is the clearest, but mine shutdowns and major events do the same thing. A rate published in March would be wrong for those weeks and misleading everywhere else.

Length. The difference between fourteen nights and ninety is large enough that a single published “long-stay rate” would be inaccurate for almost everyone reading it.

Flexibility. If your dates can move, or you can commit firmly, that is worth discussing. A published number removes the ability to reflect it.

Call (07) 4980 0600 or email bookings@emeraldinn.com.au with your rough dates and we will give you a real number rather than a range.

What is included, so you can compare properly

The trap when comparing long-stay accommodation is comparing headline rates against different inclusions. Ours include:

  • A full kitchen in every apartment — full-size fridge/freezer, oven, stove top, microwave, toaster and full cookware. You can cook properly for a month, not just reheat.
  • A washer and dryer inside your own apartment, not a shared laundry block with a coin slot and a queue.
  • Free undercover parking in the centralised guest car park, with street parking around the property for larger work vehicles and trailers.
  • High-speed WiFi with no caps and no throttling — it carries video calls and work uploads.
  • Linen, towels and weekly housekeeping.

For a thirty-day stay the kitchen and the laundry are not amenities, they are the two things that decide what the month actually costs you. See what is provided in a long-stay apartment for the full inventory.

Extensions

Placements move. Extensions are usually straightforward subject to availability, and the sooner you flag a likely one the more likely we can hold the same apartment rather than move you.

If your end date is genuinely unknown, say so when you book. It is easier to plan around an honest “somewhere between six and twelve weeks” than a firm date everyone knows is provisional.

Billing for companies, departments and agencies

Individuals can pay by card in the normal way. Where a company, department, practice or agency is paying:

  • A Travellers Group corporate account covers direct billing and consolidated invoicing, and works across all five properties — useful if your people also travel to Rockhampton or Bundaberg.
  • Itemised tax invoices are issued as standard, with ABN and GST separated, which is what government and agency acquittal processes need.
  • Accounts are usually active within 24 hours, with no minimum commitment.

See corporate accommodation for how accounts are set up, or government travel if you are travelling on a per-diem.

Who this suits

Long-stay works best for people who are here to do something rather than to see something: mining rosters and FIFO swings, construction and project crews, healthcare placements, locum doctors, teachers on placement, and anyone relocating to Emerald while they find something permanent.

Getting a Number for Your Dates

The fastest route to an accurate long-stay rate is a phone call with your dates and rough length — it takes a couple of minutes and you will get a real figure rather than a range. If you would rather see the apartments and live nightly availability first, the engine below does that.
