What Is Provided in a Long-Stay Apartment at Emerald Inn
A practical inventory for anyone about to spend a month or more in one of our apartments — what is here, what is not, and the handful of things worth bringing.
Short stays are forgiving. A month is not: the gap between “self-contained” as a marketing word and what is actually in the drawers becomes obvious around day three, usually while you are trying to cook something.
The kitchen
Every one of the 32 apartments has a full kitchen — the real thing, not a bar fridge and a kettle:
- Full-size fridge with freezer
- Oven and stove top
- Microwave
- Toaster and kettle
- Pots, pans, baking dish, chopping boards
- Full cutlery and crockery for the apartment’s occupancy
- Sink with draining space
Executive apartments also include a Nespresso machine.
Central Emerald has Woolworths, Coles and IGA within a short drive, so a weekly shop is straightforward. The Emerald markets are worth using for produce if your stay crosses one.
What people bring: a favourite knife, and any specialist small appliance — an air fryer, a rice cooker, a stick blender. There is bench space and power for them.
The laundry
Each apartment has its own washing machine and dryer. Not a shared block, not a laundromat run, not a service you book.
For anyone in high-vis, scrubs, or anything that comes back filthy daily, this is usually the single most useful thing about the apartment. Detergent for the first load is not provided — pick some up with your first shop.
What people bring: their own detergent, and a folding airer if they prefer line-drying to the dryer.
Sleeping, linen and housekeeping
Linen and towels are provided and changed with weekly housekeeping, which also cleans the apartment. On a long stay this rhythm matters more than it sounds — it keeps the place from quietly degrading over six weeks without anyone having to organise anything.
Cots and rollaway beds are available at no charge if family are joining you for part of the stay.
If you are sleeping during the day — night shift, or a roster that runs against the clock — tell us at booking. We will position you away from the car park and the road and hold housekeeping until you are up. See quiet rooms for night-shift workers.
Working from the apartment
High-speed WiFi runs throughout the property with no caps and no guest-network throttling — it carries video calls, VPN sessions and large uploads.
Executive apartments include a proper desk. If you will be working from the apartment regularly rather than occasionally, ask for one when you book; a dining table works but a desk works better over a month.
Every apartment has a Smart TV with streaming and reverse-cycle air conditioning, which in a Central Queensland summer is not optional.
Parking
Free undercover parking in the centralised guest car park, included with every stay. Your vehicle can stay there for the duration of a roster at no extra charge.
Trailers, boats, boxed utes and larger work vehicles use the street parking around the property. Our contractor and exhibitor guests do this routinely without issues, but if you are arriving with something unusually large it is worth a phone call first.
What is not here
Being straight about this saves everyone a disappointment:
- No pool and no gym on site. The Emerald Aquatic Centre is 900 metres away — an 11-minute walk — and there are gyms in town.
- No purpose-built accessible apartment. Call us before booking and we will talk honestly about whether a ground-floor apartment suits.
- No pets, with the exception of assistance and support animals, which are welcome. Please tell us before arrival so we can prepare.
- No on-site restaurant. The Capricornian is on our own street at 17 Esmond Street and opens from 5:30am; pre-order the night before and breakfast is delivered to your apartment, Monday to Friday. See the Emerald dining guide for the rest.
Settling in
Reception is open 7am to 7pm daily. If you cannot get here by 5pm we will call and set up a key lock-box with a code, so a late flight or a long day on site never means a locked door.
For the practical business of living here rather than visiting — supermarkets, fuel, medical, banking — see the Emerald services guide, and about Emerald for the town itself.
Booking a Longer Stay
If you know roughly how long you will be here, that is the conversation to have — rates for a block are worked out case by case and are a different thing to a nightly booking repeated thirty times.
