Emerald Markets
Emerald Markets is one of Emerald’s signature events, drawing visitors from across the Central Highlands and beyond. Regular community markets featuring local crafters, farmers, and food vendors.
About Emerald Markets
Emerald’s community markets bring together local growers, crafters, bakers, and food vendors. Expect fresh produce, handmade goods, baked treats, and the chance to meet the people who make and grow things in the Central Highlands. The atmosphere is relaxed and social — locals catch up over coffee while browsing stalls.
The event typically attracts 500–1,000 per session visitors.

Emerald Inn — A Kitchen for What You Buy at the Markets
There is a particular frustration in walking a good produce market when you are staying somewhere with a bar fridge and a kettle. Every one of our 32 apartments at 28–30 Esmond Street has a full kitchen — full-size fridge and freezer, oven, stovetop and proper cookware — so the tomatoes, the local beef and the bread you picked up at nine become lunch rather than a nice idea.
We are walking distance from the CBD, which covers most of the market locations around town, and there is free undercover parking for the trip back with full bags. Guests staying a week or more, on a work placement or a longer visit, often make the market their weekly shop; long-stay rates are arranged case by case.
Stay at Emerald Inn: 28–30 Esmond Street, Emerald QLD 4720. Check availability or call (07) 4980 0600. See all apartment types.
Making a Weekend of the Market
A market morning is a good anchor for a weekend rather than the whole of it:
- Where to eat in Emerald — cafes, pubs and the local beef, all within walking distance
- Emerald Botanic Gardens — walking tracks, picnic lawns and early-morning birdlife
- Fairbairn Dam & Lake Maraboon — barramundi, yellowbelly and red claw, a short drive out
- Where the locals go — the spots visitors generally miss
