Emerald is accessible via the Capricorn Highway from both Brisbane (9 hours) and Rockhampton (3 hours). Emerald Airport has daily flights from Brisbane via QantasLink and Alliance Airlines.

Carnival soccer means two or three games a day and one set of kit doing all the work. Every apartment has its own washer and dryer, so the strip is dry and wearable by the next morning without a laundromat detour.
We are at 28–30 Esmond Street, an easy walk into town, with the cars off the street in our undercover park. Full kitchens across all 32 apartments — worth having when a squad of teenagers needs feeding properly rather than expensively.

Carnival football finishes mid-afternoon and everyone is hungry. In order of usefulness:
