Why Attend

For visitors, community events offer the most authentic insight into how Emerald actually works as a town. Beyond the attractions and accommodation, it’s these gatherings — whether sporting, cultural, or community — that reveal the character of the Central Highlands. If your visit coincides with an event, attending is one of the best ways to connect with the region.

Getting There

Emerald is accessible via the Capricorn Highway from both Brisbane (9 hours) and Rockhampton (3 hours). Emerald Airport has daily flights from Brisbane via QantasLink and Alliance Airlines.

Emerald Inn — Dust Off After the Rodeo

Rodeo finishes late, and everyone leaves covered in arena dust. A rain shower, a washer-dryer and a bed a few minutes from town are the three things worth having, and every one of our 32 apartments at 28–30 Esmond Street has the first two.

Floats, trucks and larger rigs use the street parking around the property, which our stock and horse-sport guests do routinely. If you are not in by 5pm, reception calls and arranges a key lock-box so a late finish is never a problem.
