Getting to Emerald Hospital from Emerald Inn — Distance, Walking and Parking
Emerald Hospital is 1.2 kilometres from Emerald Inn — about a 15-minute walk, or four minutes by car.
That figure is measured door to door, not estimated. If you are choosing accommodation on proximity to the hospital, it is the number that matters, and it is the reason a good share of our guests are here for medical rather than commercial reasons.
The route
Emerald Hospital is at 69 Hospital Road. From Emerald Inn at 28–30 Esmond Street it is a straight, flat, well-lit run through town — no highway, no complicated turns, and walkable in ordinary shoes.
Four minutes by car makes it realistic to go back between shifts, or to go back at all during a long day at a bedside. Fifteen minutes on foot makes it realistic without a car, which matters if a family has arrived in one vehicle and someone needs to stay at the hospital with it.
Parking
At Emerald Inn: free undercover parking in the centralised guest car park, included with every stay. Your vehicle can stay there for the length of your booking at no extra charge. Larger vehicles and trailers use the street parking around the property.
At the hospital: parking is on and around Hospital Road. We would rather not state arrangements that may have changed since we last checked — the hospital’s own signage on arrival is the reliable source. What we can say is that plenty of our guests simply leave the car with us and walk, which sidesteps the question entirely on a day when you will be going back and forth.

If you are here for a placement rather than a visit
The same 1.2 kilometres works differently for clinicians. It means you can go home between a morning list and an evening shift, sleep properly, and eat something you cooked.
We host healthcare placements and locum doctors regularly. Executive apartments have a desk and a Nespresso machine; every apartment has a full kitchen and its own laundry, which is what makes a six-week rotation liveable rather than endured. If you are sleeping during the day, tell us at booking and we will position you away from the road and hold housekeeping.
