Why Attend
For visitors, community events offer the most authentic insight into how Emerald actually works as a town. Beyond the attractions and accommodation, it’s these gatherings — whether sporting, cultural, or community — that reveal the character of the Central Highlands. If your visit coincides with an event, attending is one of the best ways to connect with the region.
Getting There
Emerald is accessible via the Capricorn Highway from both Brisbane (9 hours) and Rockhampton (3 hours). Emerald Airport has daily flights from Brisbane via QantasLink and Alliance Airlines.
Emerald Inn — Forty-Five Minutes from the Springsure Arena
Springsure is about 45 minutes south of us, and beds there are limited when the rodeo is on. Basing yourself at 28–30 Esmond Street means a comfortable drive down and a proper night afterwards, with Virgin Rock worth a stop on the way if you have not seen it.
Rodeo dust and a long day in the sun make the rain shower and the washer-dryer in every apartment more useful than they sound. Floats and larger vehicles use the street parking around the property; cars go undercover for free.
Stay with us: 28–30 Esmond Street, Emerald QLD 4720. Check availability or call (07) 4980 0600. Compare the three apartment types.
The Southern Run
Springsure points you south, and that is the most scenic direction out of Emerald:
- Springsure & Virgin Rock — a historic town under a striking rock face, 45 minutes south
- Carnarvon Gorge — sandstone gorge, Aboriginal rock art and walking trails, 3 hours south-west
- The Central Highlands cattle industry — the industry behind most of the district
- Blackdown Tableland — elevated bushland and panoramic lookouts, 90 minutes east
