A buffet-style breakfast is also served at The Capricornian, 5:30am–8:30am Mon–Fri.

Dining out — our recommendations

The Capricornian
Just 100 m from the Inn on our own street — modern Australian à la carte and the best steak in town. Try the house-made fresh pasta, the crocodile spring rolls, the standing rib bone, and a long-standing front-desk favourite: the chocolate crepe. Open breakfast, lunch and dinner, with takeaway and room charge-back available.
The Shelfield & The Sensory
Hands down the best coffee in Emerald. The Shelfield is a boutique specialty café for takeaway coffee and a snack on the go; The Sensory is the family-friendly dine-in option. In a rush? Order on the Skip app.
Hops & Vine Tapas Bar
Our pick for craft beer, cocktails, tapas and woodfired pizza — 6–12 Opal Street. Open Wed–Thu for dinner, Fri–Sun lunch and dinner; takeaway available, perfect for a picnic by the river.
Maraboon Tavern & Bottle Shop
Down Esmond Street — big outdoor beer garden, mini golf for young and old, and the Liquor Drive-Thru with one of the largest selections in town. Takeaways over the bar until midnight every night.

Top things to do.

Sapphire Gemfields
45 minutes west — one of the largest sapphire-bearing areas in the world. Tour underground mining operations, browse gem shops and galleries, or try fossicking yourself.
Emerald Botanic Gardens
A tropical oasis on the Nogoa River with six kilometres of walking tracks leading to playgrounds, mazes and sculptures — perfect for a morning walk, a ride or a riverside picnic.
National Trust Railway Station & the fossilised tree
Marvel at the heritage-listed station’s timeless architecture, then find the ancient fossilised tree at Emerald Town Hall — estimated at over 250 million years old.
Fairbairn Dam & Lake Maraboon
A picturesque retreat 20 km away — shoreline strolls, picnics, swimming and famous red-claw fishing.
Emerald Aquatic Centre
An 11-minute walk from the Inn — water slides, pools for all ages and a relaxed vibe for cooling off on a hot day.
Emerald Cinema
On our own street — a charming vintage-style theatre showing the latest releases, proudly run by a passionate Emerald local since 1996.
