Why Attend
For visitors, community events offer the most authentic insight into how Emerald actually works as a town. Beyond the attractions and accommodation, it’s these gatherings — whether sporting, cultural, or community — that reveal the character of the Central Highlands. If your visit coincides with an event, attending is one of the best ways to connect with the region.
Getting There
Emerald is accessible via the Capricorn Highway from both Brisbane (9 hours) and Rockhampton (3 hours). Emerald Airport has daily flights from Brisbane via QantasLink and Alliance Airlines.
Emerald Inn — Bike Trailer Parking and a Rain Shower
Nothing gets dirtier than a motocross weekend. The rain shower in every apartment and a washer-dryer in every apartment are the two features our dirt-bike guests actually mention.
Bike trailers and larger tow rigs use the street parking around 28–30 Esmond Street, which works without issue; the free undercover car park handles standard vehicles. Full kitchens for a late dinner, and reception will set up a key lock-box if the day at the track runs past 5pm.
Stay with us: 28–30 Esmond Street, Emerald QLD 4720. Check availability or call (07) 4980 0600. Compare the three apartment types.
When the Bikes Are Loaded
Once the trailer is packed there is usually half a day left. Where it tends to go:
- Fairbairn Dam & Lake Maraboon — swimming, boating and birdlife at Lake Maraboon
- Blackdown Tableland — elevated bushland and panoramic lookouts, 90 minutes east
- Where to eat in Emerald — where to eat when you would rather not cook
- Where the locals go — places worth knowing that are not on the tourist list
