Getting There
Emerald is accessible via the Capricorn Highway from both Brisbane (9 hours) and Rockhampton (3 hours). Emerald Airport has daily flights from Brisbane via QantasLink and Alliance Airlines.

Council community days move around the region, and Emerald is the practical middle of it — an easy run to Capella, Springsure, Blackwater or Tieri and back the same day. We are at 28–30 Esmond Street, close to the CBD.
Every apartment is self-contained with a full kitchen, which suits families making a weekend of a community day rather than eating out three times a day. Free undercover parking is included, and reception is open 7am to 7pm.

Seeing the Rest of the Shire
Community days move between the towns of the Central Highlands, which is a reasonable excuse to see more of the shire than the one you came for:
