Getting There
Emerald is accessible via the Capricorn Highway from both Brisbane (9 hours) and Rockhampton (3 hours). Emerald Airport has daily flights from Brisbane via QantasLink and Alliance Airlines.

Capella is about 30 minutes north, and accommodation in the smaller Central Highlands towns is limited enough that most festival visitors base themselves in Emerald and drive up. From 28–30 Esmond Street it is a straightforward run on sealed road either way.
That makes a difference at the end of a long day in the sun: a rain shower, reverse-cycle air conditioning, and a kitchen with a full-size fridge rather than a bar fridge and a servo pie.
