Road Trip: Emerald to Longreach and Winton

Emerald to Longreach is roughly 300km via the Capricorn Highway, a 4-hour drive through increasingly sparse landscape. The road is sealed and well-maintained. Fuel stops are available but less frequent than coastal routes.

Longreach offers the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame and the Qantas Founders Museum. Winton, further west, has the Australian Age of Dinosaurs museum and Lark Quarry dinosaur trackways.
